G-d promises Abraham in the Hebrew bible that He will make of Ishmael a great nation. Sarah tells Abraham to send away Ishmael. Abraham is reluctant. G-d reassures him that Ishmael will become a great nation and will be protected. It says it, right there in the text! It is right after the birth of Isaac, somewhere around Genesis 20. To whom do you think "a great nation" refers to in this context, if not Islam?
