Dear Glenn, im sure you've looked deep into Islam, the history of it, the Qur'an and must've made a reasonable research from "muslims" about it before writing this. I dont i know enough about other religions to say anything about them, but from what i have learned and understood, i do know that Islam, if not the only then one of the very few religions that have emphasized to a great extent on the right of people from other religions, especially minorities. There are a number of verses in Qur'an that actually explain and urge muslims to treat non-muslims as their own. You wont find any other religious book that would explain and talk that much about people from other religions, especially christains. The Qur'an talks about christians as "book fellows" of muslims. We believe in the word from same GOD. (Perhaps you missed that).
The problem today is that, most mulims dont know much about their own religion, also the non-muslims relying on the word of mouth are being mislead too. There is a huge misunderstanding in the way people "interpret" Qur'an. Im not saying the muslims are perfect or anything, no one is perfect, years of slavery, torture and humiliation has resulted in a new "group" of muslims, we now know as "extremists" "terrorists", and what they do is STRONGLY condemned by any muslim who has kept his calm and are pretty much familiar with what Isam is all about.
We all live in the toughest times ever. The best way is to find out for YOURSELF and not relying on just a few sources. Believe me, if i would have found one verse from Qur'an that would imply something like you said about the non muslims, i would NOT have been a muslim!!!
