To all American bashers...

Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam

Before you start bashing on America's actions in WWII and other wars, have you actually thought about how many people have been saved because of help of the U.S., although the U.S. does not have ANY responsibility for helping other nations out. Remember who's paying the taxes. But U.S. chose to overthrow that maniac in Germany and is again trying to overthrow another maniac in Iraq.

A commenter: "The United States took over after WWII and has been, ever since, the driving force against democracy."

Let me list some "democracy" of Iran:

The hejab, or dress code, is mandatory in all public places for all women. Women must cover their hair and body except for their face and hands and they must not use cosmetics.

Punishments range from a verbal reprimand to 74 lashes with a whip to imprisonment for one month to a year. Stoning to death is a legal form of punishment for sexual misconduct. Women are banned from pursuing higher education in 91 of 169 fields of study and must be taught in segregated classrooms.

A woman may work with her husband's permission, although many occupations are forbidden to women.

The legal age at which girls can be married is 9 years (formerly 18 years). Polygamy is legal, with men permitted to have four wives and unlimited number of temporary wives.

Women are not permitted to travel or acquire a passport without their husband's written permission.
Now that's some DEMOCRACY!
