People like Macy make me sad

Dear Dr Pipes: People like Macy who equate the acts of Islamic terrorists with random acts of killings by deranged shooters, make me very sad. These people cannot be so dumb that they cannot see the obvious differences between the two situations, they must only be lying. And that is what makes me sad.

What singles out Islamic terrorists is the fact that they act and kill in the name of a religion and the other followers of that religion are either too busy or too selfish or too unconcerned to do anything significant to oppose these killers (as if they want to benefit from the terrorist's actions without acting on their own). The random shooters that Macy cites did not act in the name of their religion and even if they did, the other followers of the religion did not shut their eyes. Did we see an organization like CAIR to defend Timothy McVeigh? Did we hear any defence of Timothy McVeigh in any shape or form?

The argument that other killers are not called terrorists and so Islamic killers should also not be does not hold. I hope this argument is buried for good.
