Commenter, if i may, allow me to give you a little advice. do not tell me what the ideals were for the West. Do not tell me what it "stands for". and most importantly, DO NOT TELL ME WHAT IT MEANS! you see, my friend, these "ideals" (namely, democracy and freedom of speech) are only that: ideals. today, where is my freedom of speech? if I want to tell people and preach to them in public about the reality of Islam, and their obligations as Muslims, and the Truth about the war on "terror", and if i preached with the mindset that I have "freedom of speech", then I would be arrested! I would be arrested because of what? because of preaching? because of expressing the Truth about my way of life? no, Commenter, The West does not stand for these things. the West stands for one thing and one thing only: secularism. the West stands for love of this world, and hatred of death. the West stands for people to forget about religion (seperation of Church and state, supposedly) in their politics, the West wants people to live for this world and not give a darn about the next. the West (namely America) is nothing but a disguised hypocrisy, as Malcom X said.

Now you want to talk freedom? fine. what freedom is available in America? letting women dress like whores in public and letting men defile them? throwing away the sanctity of marriage by allowing "gay marriage"? oh and lets not forget the most fun one: lets loan someone some money and make them pay back more than we lent them! Interest, my friend, is quite a wonderful feeling, isn't it? you want to talk about opression? the West and America opresses you in this world. they opress you against reality. they make you feel that it is right to put forth all your effort in the way of this life, and then all of a sudden, you're dead. you're dead, and you have to answer to God as to what you did with your life. you have to face Him on Judgement Day and tell him why you lived in and supported a system which violated His rules on marriage. you will have to tell Him why you lived in and supported a system where the honor of women was destroyed and they were encouraged to dress in a manner that only asked men to defile them. you will have to answer to Him as to why you accepted a system which worked for this world, and these people, instead of the next world, and God. only then will you realize how much you were opressed in this world. only then will you understand that the so-called "happier lives" you mention you lived were nothing but lies, and you will be left at the mercy of God. and on that day, my friend, you will not be questioned by God because you lived "a happy life being yourself", you will be questioned because you lived a life that he didnt want you to live.

You are not here to serve yourself. you are here because God put you here, and you owe Him (and only Him) your obedience and submission. This is the teaching of Islam, and this is the evil it fights against. I hope that maybe you might free your mind from the narrowness of this world into the vastness of the next. my regards.
