Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam

Americans seem to place the fault for the differences that Islam has towards the West on our foreign policy. But after studying the Koran, I understand that no matter what we do, we will never curtail the ultimate goal of Islam- to struggle against the corrupt Infidel and to bring the world to bear the laws promulgated in the Koran. Whoever does not believe in the Koranic word of Allah is against Islam. "If then they believe as you believe in Him, they are indeed on the right course, and if they turn back, then they are only in great opposition, so Allah will suffice you against them, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing." [Surah 2.137]

After reading the Koran, I found it extremely militant. Although there are many Surahs that advocate peace and tolorance, those that advocate violence against the unbeliever far outnumber the peaceful ones. There is a marked difference in Jesus, who shunned violence, and Mohammed who expelled two of the three Jewish tribes from Medina, ordered the beheading of the men of the third, which numbered between 600 and 800 men, and sold their women and children into slavery. These are all historical facts that are known by Moslems themselves. You can hardly read a Surah without it not alluding to the struggle with the disbelievers. In their eyes we are corrupt, licentious society, given to excess.

Islam also sees the wealth of the West as a direct threat to them. "Lo! Those who disbelieve spend their wealth in order that they may debar (men) from the way of Allah. They will spend it, then it will become an anguish for them, then they will be conquered." [Surah 8.36] To conquer and bring Islam to the world is Islam's ultimate mandate revealed by Allah through Mohammed. Notice that any part of the world were the Muslim population has become large enough to exert their power, there is a violent struggle for control. Their goal: to reform that society into an Islamic state by whatever means. The source of this is the Koran and the Hadith, not a country's foreign policy.

Many Westerners are giving their opinions based on ignorance. They listen to reports in the media that are more worried about offending anyone than reporting on the true problem or they listen to Muslims in this country, who out of ignorance or fear portry Islam as peaceful. I call upon Americans to delve deep into this religion. Buy a copy of the Koran. Research the history of Islam. Open your eyes before it's too late. This is the fastest growing religion on earth.

The war on terrorism will never be won because the enemy is not a person but a credo. The Koran will continue to spawn generation after generation of so called martyrs. It will continue to create followers of Mohammad who conquered by the sword in the name of Islam. "...O Prophet, urge the believers to fight. If there are twenty patient men among you, you shall overcome two hundred, and if there are a hundred, they shall overcome a thousand, for they are a nation who do not understand." [Surah 8:65]
