Reject accusations of bias

Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam

Submitted by William Zelko (United States), Jul 30, 2002 at 21:28

Let's see. We are to judge some new philosophy that is to be tolerant Sunday to Wednesday; and Thursday to Saturday it promotes bigotry, murder and conquest. How should we judge it? Since this is Thursday, we might be biased by its present savagery.
Seriously, we do know that any person who murders only once a month is evil - even if he is is a Muslim. However, many Muslims are decent people who quietly reject the explicit bigotry & murderousness of the Koran. Under threat of violence, they must go along.
Psychologically, many of us aren't intimidated by Jesse Jackson's con of using false charges of bias. Similarly, we should be as savy of similar intended intimidation by Muslims and Muslimists. We should reject accusations of bias if we judge both the Klan and Islam as irredeemable evil.
