"Good cop, bad cop" routine.

Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam
in response to reader comment: Two types of muslim

The "Good cop, bad cop" routine actually started by Muhammad himself and part of Islam. If you look at Islamic History (Yes, I have studied it in high school in my country - Malaysia), you will see that Islamic teaching has two parts - one part is the teaching Muhammad had conducted in Mecca (where Muslims were minority) and another part is when Muhammad was in Medina (after massive Muslim Exodus from Mecca).

In Mecca when the Muslims were a minority, Muhammad have preached peach and co-existence, but at the same time, taught Muslims how to avoid socializing with non-Muslims in fear that they (non-Muslims) will corrupt their faith. However, when Muhammad reached Medina and formed his own (1st Islamic) country, his attitude and teaching have changed. He have started to teach about war and the need to wage war against Non-Muslims (who he believes will wage war against him and Islam if they were allowed to remain as they were - another word pre-emptive strike). Muhammad have even sent out letters challenging others to either pay protection money, OR accept Islam OR go to war. Does this look like a work of a Prophet?

It is this time when Jews and Christians who supported Muhammad earlier (when he was in Mecca) have started to withdraw their support and their acceptance that Muhammad was a prophet. Their rejection did not meet well with Muhammad, and they are labelled heretics and an enemy of Allah.

Today, Muslims are divided on this two teaching (Mecca's and Medina's). They kept claiming Islam is perfect (when compared to other religion) YET they do not dare to mention that both of this teachings were as opposite of each other as day and night. Islam is NOT perfect, because it was taught by an imperfect man - Muhammad.
