a bit far fetched

Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam
in response to reader comment: Modernization in İslam is needed.

I understand what you are saying here, but I think that you may be a bit too far into the whole thing. Islam is a way of life, and when one is commanded to do something, he/she is expected to do so. from what I know, there is nothing wrong with raising a live pig, so long as you dont eat it. however, we have been commanded explicitely not to eat pig, and there is no way around it. "listen and obey" is one of our duties as a muslim, and we must simply obey what we are commanded to do.

also, in regards to women covering themselves, you are thinking a bit too much on the matter. but, if it must be said, to cover oneself is far more effective in the hot weather than to bare oneself (look at the middle east...why is not everyone there dying of heat stroke? it is extremely hot there, yet everyone is covered). nothing in the Quran says that the woman's covering must be heavy or dark in color. a woman can wear a light-fabric, white head cover and still feel comfortable.

as far as the teenage gays go, homosexuality is strictly prohibited in Islam...no exception. Allah made marriage between a man and a woman; He created that relationship because it will procreate, and will continue mankind until the Day of Judgement. to pervert that relationship in our arrogance to "be free" is not in our authority (Islam means "to submit" or "submission", and a muslim is "one who submits" or "one who is at peace"...submission to the will and command of Allah is what we must have). freedom does not have endless bounds; it only extends so far as Allah commanded it to be. to feel we are at His level to decide in such matters is an act of Shirk (we are basically associating mankind with him: we are saying that we are on His level). I think that you should consider all this and form your opinions based on it.
