Why would Islamic countries want to be like the USA

Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam

Submitted by Lynda Burchell (United Kingdom), Nov 30, 2004 at 18:04

No country should be "the most powerful nation in the world". All nations should be respected and equal. America uses its power to spread " democracy". In other words you can be free but only free to agree with America and let it have any resources that it wants on cheap and easy terms.

I have noticed that as capitalism grows the USA has lots of poverty stricken people living within it that the richer Americans don't help. As monopolies take root , such as Wal mart, nobody has any choice other than what Walmart wants you to choose. Why would Islamic countries want this?
