They must embrace Western Values

Reader comment on item: The Evil Isn't Islam

Submitted by J. W. Beasonj (United States), Aug 3, 2002 at 16:06

Since the Koran is a mystical document, which means it uses a non-sensory, non-rational approach to knowledge, then any interpretation of what it contains is "valid."
Any religion or ideology that depends upon the same approach to knowledge should therefore receive the same judgment.

No Muslim group has condemned the actions of these homicide murderers or the governments in the Middle East that support them. Since the silence is deafening on this interpretation of Islam, one can only conclude that they tacitly support the Islamisist approach.

The only way that supporters of this form of mysticism can distance themselves from condemnation is to support the values of Western Civilization. These include valuing the evidence of the senses and reason exclusively as one's only tools of cognition, science, indivdual rights to life, liberty, and private property, a political system of more than one political party, and a capitalist economic system as a minimum.

The reason that some contradictions, apparently exist in the Koran, comes from Islam formerly embracing the Western values through Aristotle over 1,000 years ago. They have since abandoned this approach because it supports life in this world in clear contradiction of the preached virtue of so-called life in the next.

When these groups decide to embrace the Western Values and not just pay lip service to them, they will remove themselves from blanket condemnation. Until then, one can only conclude that any ideolgy that condemns reason, individual rights, private property and promotes "life" in the next world is the enemy of life in this world and must receive moral condemnation.
