Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict XVI and the Koran

Submitted by Michael Kocian (United States), Sep 18, 2006 at 16:05

When one allows the evil one to rule their life, then Islam makes sense... and Islamists will tell you that up is down, left is right, and the peace loving people of Islam threaten and cut off heads of those they don't agree with... The parallel path is obvious to those who are open to and seek truth. Islamists (who are allowed to lie) will tell you otherwise. Trouble for them is, no decent person should trust any Muslim.

We (Christians and our elder brothers in faith, the Jews) are really not linked to Islam through Abraham as some have said. We're linked by the man, but it makes a big difference if you're taking the word of God as part of His covenant, or contrarily using evil words outside God's covenant. First, to address the people aspect... our ancestor in faith, Abraham was named Abram at the time he had Ishmael with Sarah's Egyptian handmaid. It wasn't until years later that God renamed Abram to Abraham, and set His covenant with Abraham though Isaac and Jacob. The Arabs trace their lineage to Ishmael, who was not part of God's covenant and was sent away with God's admonition to Hagar (Ishmael's mother) that Ishmael will be like a wild ass among men... his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against his. Of course, God's always right and we see that clearly now. ...

Unlike the Koran ...the Old Testament and New Testament are the inspired Word of God. We Christians were called to God's Kingdom through the disciples of Jesus, because the Jews (His chosen people) generally rejected Him as the Messiah. The Arabs could choose the same path to God and become Christians, but their widespread hatred of the Jews prohibits most of them from following the true path to God. Also, having the Koran forced on you via brainwasing and by threats keeps other Muslims "in line".
