wrong!Reader comment on item: The Pope and the Koran Submitted by Bob (Lebanon), Dec 12, 2008 at 22:21 Emmm...it isn't based on spiritual claim but historical. The Koran do name Jews the sons of Israel, it also says they are the chosen poeple of God. Not because they are superior intellectualy or anything but beacuse they were the first to receive the word of God. However, it also considers the Torah as corrupted later on ...so basically they stoped being the chosen people of God :D Ancient Israel was destroyed over 2000 yrs ago. Muslims don't associate the ancient with the present day Israel. The ancient Israel is considered by Muslims, a land that was created by God which its people worshiped. The basic problem is the killing, theft and expulsion of Palestinians from their land from the 1930s till now. The word Palestine was taken from what the Romans reffered to the land after the Jewish exile and that name caught on for the next 2000 yrs.The word Palestine doesn't matter, it was only used to counter the claim of zionism over the land.By the way, genetics have proved that the majority Palestinians are the descedants of ancient poeple who were living in those lands for thousands of yrs. At least, learn about the subject you want to discuss b4 you put it in a public forum.10x Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
