To Brother Plato

Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict XVI and the Koran
in response to reader comment: To Raqib about "unmolested" Koran

Submitted by Raqib Ahmed Asif (Bangladesh), Dec 19, 2006 at 12:13

As you wrote, "And what about this from your Nov 9 post? "And the sun runs to its resting place. That is the decree of the Almighty, the All-knowing?, (Surah Ya?sin, 38)." How much intelligence does it take to realise that what the Koran is saying is that that sun goes and rests ie does not move, unless my understanding of resting is entirely different from yours. Can you plead mistranslation about this sentence?"

As you will read the Holy Qur'an it is also says that the universe is expanding. Such verses tells us that surely the Sun is also moving, not stationery. However in our solar system "the sun runs to its resting place". It is very sad that some person lives by reading only one verse. Suppose I am reading a famous story book, Harry Potter. I would only understand the whole of it if I read the whole book completely, not by reading some few lines. "THERE IS PROBABLY IN THE WORLD NO OTHER BOOK WHICH HAS REMAINED TWELVE CENTURIES (now fourteen) WITH SO PURE A TEXT." ? (Sir William Muir).

Do you think Brother Plato that Sir William Muir is a naive. As you typed, "(Surah Ya?sin, 38)". The question marks shows us lots of things you think or you hate about Islam. But as a Muslim, we never did to a chapter of Bible. That is very pathetic. I would like to end by giving verses from Holy Bible and Holy Qur'an: "... seeing they see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand." (Matthew 13:13) " Deaf, dumb and blind. They will not return " (Qur'an 2:18) --
