Criticism of religion is paramount

Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict XVI and the Koran
in response to reader comment: For Christians who think that cartoons are ok

Submitted by Charlotte (United States), May 2, 2007 at 01:07

Cartoons which call into the question the ethics of religion are an exercise in freedom of speech. Islam has garnished as much right to be criticized as any other religion. The fact that muslims act so rabidly to criticism exposes how barbaric and anti-enlightenment some of their ilk can be. I am neither a Christian nor a Muslim. But I have noticed Christians take criticism far better than their muslim counter parts.

The Quran says in Surah 9 that Infidels should be warred against. Considering your religion has no tolerance for my kind, why should I have any tolerance for your beliefs? The cartoons should be printed far and wide along side other cartoons which expose the fallacies of all, until religionists come to accept that if they follow unethical and illogical doctrine, they shall be ridiculed for it.
