Progress but Ibn Taymiya

Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict XVI and the Koran

That was a beautiful piece. Actually Daniel got it right. Only extremists thereof do not want to adjust Quranic meaning to fit into today's world. In history, as Daniel stated, even some Sharii laws were concerning only a specific time or place even when Muhamad was liiving. Therefore, yes the Quran tests positive for progress, but the Muslim majority or rather the majority of Muslim scholars are regressive. What would someone expect from a scholar who studies in Pakistan by teacher who posesses only literal knowledge of the scriptures; with some history knowledge on the teaching of the deadliest -as I qualify- Muslim scholar Ibn Taymiya.

Ibn Taymiya is a leading feagure that qualifies all non-Muslims and even Muslims from Non-Sunni sects as infidels and will go to hell. Scholars like this supremasist figure played key role in establishing the grownd for extreemism and sectarian if not theocratic supremacy which rejects difference.

I support the British government`s crack down on the followers of this line from the team of Muslim scholars. I will be glad to see them doing the same thing with the Hindus and other Fundamentalist -marginal- entities`s leaders. I hope that international legality one day takes a step to sanction and exclude from the international community all those who preach supremacy, hate, terror and inequality. Be it Muslim, Christian, Jew or Etheist. There should be no place in th world for Extremism.

Thank you very much
