To Jeffrey: more answers
Submitted by Richard Lion heart (United States), Feb 27, 2006 at 01:07Dear J,
I have to say you said something very blasphemous in your last comment. The apostle Peter confessed Jesus is the Christ and the Son of God and Jesus blessed him for it. In your comment you said that Jesus only blessed Peter for confessing that He is the Christ. Therefore if Jesus was not the Son of GOD He should have rebuked Peter for calling Him the Son of God but Jesus did not. So you are actually accusing Jesus of taking on a title He does not have. You are acusing Him of being an impostor just like the Jews of His time use to accuse Him. The Son of God is of the same essence as God so therefore equal to God. Jeffrey for the sake of your own soul I hope you will ask for forgiveness for saying such a thing. As far as Jesus calling Himself the Son of God it's all over the Bible.
John 5: 22-27
22For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of
Jeffrey notice how Jesus calls Himself both the Son of God and the Son of man. This has to do with Jesus's dual nature, being fully God and fully man.
You said the Holy Trinity is not mentioned as One entity in the Bible. Well actually it is.
I John 5:6-7
"Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three who testify in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one"
I hope these answers will satisfy your curiosity/unbelief which ever it is.
