...The law of Moses... (Jews)

Exodus 21
12 "Whoever strikes a man so that he dies shall be put to death.
15 "Whoever strikes his father or his mother shall be put to death.
16 "Whoever steals a man, whether he sells him or is found in possession of him, shall be put to death.
17 "Whoever curses his father or his mother shall be put to death.

Exodus 22
16 "Whoever lies with a beast shall be put to death.

Exodus 31
14 You shall keep the sabbath, because it is holy for you; every one who profanes it shall be put to death

Leviticus 20
9 For every one who curses his father or his mother shall be put to death
10 "If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death.
11 The man who lies with his father's wife has uncovered his father's nakedness; both of them shall be put to death
12 If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall be put to death; they have committed incest, their blood is upon them.
13 If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death, their blood is upon them.
15 If a man lies with a beast, he shall be put to death; and you shall kill the beast.
16 If a woman approaches any beast and lies with it, you shall kill the woman and the beast; they shall be put to death
27 "A man or a woman who is a medium or a wizard shall be put to death

Leviticus 24
16 He who blasphemes the name of the LORD shall be put to death
17 He who kills a man shall be put to death.
21 He who kills a beast shall make it good; and he who kills a man shall be put to death.

Deuteronomy 24
16 "The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor shall the children be put to death for the fathers; every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

...And what did Jesus have say about the law? (Christians)

Matthew 5:17-20
"Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Where do you think the 'death penalty' law came from?

There it is... For all to see... ;)
