in response to reader comment: Pope and Pipes on Revelation

I won't take the time to correct your errors in detail. Establishing a precedent for correcting everyone who is in error could take me the remainder of my life. As Jesus said, "let them alone, they be blind leaders of the blind." There comes a time when we have spoken enough and then we must leave "them" alone. But I will bullet point out some thoughts/corrections:

1) I fully realize that RCs will say that the Bible is God's Word (I've seen the pope bow and kiss it, and yet I get accused of Bibleism). But as Jesus said, "this people draws near to me with their lips, but their heart is far from me." RCs are masters of equivocation and subtilty. Just like the serpent. And Satan quoted scripture to Jesus' face. But while the RCs lips are flapping their works and doctrines demonstrate their hatred for God.

2) You shouldn't include RCs in the definition of a Christian. Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice and they follow me..." The RCs follow the voice of men through their traditions and living voice (which is just a way of saying we do what we want, when its convenient). They corrupt every doctrine of the scripture and thereby show their apostasy. I never think of an RC as a Christian, you either believe in the authority of the Word of God, or you believe in the authority of some man who has the audacity to call himself the Holy Father, Vicar of Christ, while in a funny hat, on a gilded throne, having his hand kissed and being bowed to in worship ruling from the city of seven hills. You make your choice.

3) Your understanding of Jesus' teaching in the NT as stated in your second paragraph is wrought with fallacy. It would take too long to unravel here. Suffice it to say that Jesus said "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." (Matt 5.17)

4) We are not "all brothers and sisters united in our lord Jesus Christ." I am no brother to an RC. They don't believe the Bible as the only divine source of Truth. They believe in other sources of authority. Could two say they were both of the USA, if one believed in the US Constitution and the other's rule was the writings of Mao? Certainly not. Even more so with Christianity. A true Christian is known by following Jesus Christ's authority. They are "mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour." (II Peter 3.2) There is no room in that verse for the traditions of some power hungry men. Christians reject the voice of man, even if he sits on a throne and receives worship calling himself Holy Father (oh the arrogance and pride). Christians follow the scripture and the SCRIPTURE ALONE. All others are liars, including the pope.

5) The dark ages of the RCC as you say, are still going on. You need to do some research. Your organization is "drunk with the blood of the saints." It has been for centuries. Some lip-service "apology" for the millions upon millions who have been slaughtered (some estimate 50 million Bible believing Christians alone, then add Jews and Muslims etc.) is laughable since the RCC still pursues her same agenda with a different mask for her different audience in the 21st century.

I do appreciate your taking the time to address the issues you have. My response probably will sound harsh in this effeminate age in which we live. But I believe the truth is worth contending for with everything I have – directly and plainly. It is my prayer that you too will find the blessedness of salvation in Jesus Christ, by believing in the gospel alone. Not by sacrementalism, good works, prayers of the saints and the myriad of other methods prescribed by the apostate RCC. I would urge you to repent and believe in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of your sins. I came out of the RCC 25 years ago and now know my Savior, my God and my friend.

I know I am saved based upon the sure Word of God, not miserable, weak and unworthy self. What a joy the true peace of God, which is with me, is.
