Christian to Muslim to common sense

I once considered Islam, but now I know that it, like all religions, are the product of grubby profane historical processes. I have traced the pedigree of Islamic and Qu'ranic thought to its very human and natural past. To believe Islam you would have to believe in an incorrect understanding of material reality. What will be the fate of a piece of lapis lazuli in an earthen building in Makkah in a thousand year's time, let alone a million year's time? Please stop sacralizing history and understand that cultural ideas are just that- the ideas of men through time and space.
