Arrogance and Religion

I've read the various comments on Dan Pipes' article "A Christian Boom." While I enjoyed Daniel's article, I had to cringe when I read what some of the readers had to say on this delicate subject.

Although being a Christian is an important part of my identity, one cannot ignore some of the shameful methods used to spread "the good word" or some of the results, i.e. inquisition, or the lack of tolerance exemplified by Irish Protestants and Catholics in the north and south. That can't make any of us too proud.

Yes, BIGOTRY - lacking tolerance for another's religious beliefs - crosses religious lines. Christian fundamental fanaticism is as much a threat to civilization as Muslim extremists.
