Meaning of Christian Fundamentalism

Reader comment on item: A Christian Boom
in response to reader comment: The Rise Of Christian Fundamentalism

Submitted by Psalm (United Kingdom), Mar 16, 2007 at 22:10

The Media loves to hype up the word 'fundamentalism' without understanding that the word has a VERY specific meaning in Christianity.

Christian Fundamentalist is one who adheres to the fundamentals of the Faith, including the Fundamentals of Protestanism:

1. Original Sin

2. Virgin birth of Christ

3. Faith Alone (salvation by Faith in Christ alone)

4. The Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ (and the final resurrection)

5. Scripture alone

6. Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit)

Hardly a death manual, I'd say.

Islamic fundamentalism is something else though.
