Reader comment on item: A Christian Boom

Submitted by Wes Hull (United States), Dec 5, 2002 at 10:15

While I will not claim to be a theologian, although I have studied the Bible formally and informally, the reference to north and south is not specific to the U.S.
The author is meaning the differences in the North and South Hemispheres, as I have come to understand in reading my own denomination's publications, i.e., more specifically, the differences in the theology of the churches in Europe and England and America, as opposed to those in Africa, India and South America. It really is a contrast between the two lines of christianity, the one that dominates so-called advanced ,secular countries and the church that is being birthed in the emerging world. Those of us in the north have become soft and more accepting of having our theology watered down because of the many blessings that we enjoy. Contrast that with life in any emerging nation or a land that does not know peace, and I would be sure that more liberal Christians would soon find reason to view scriptural interpretation much more literally....
