Rebuttal to Abdirahman samatar

Reader comment on item: A Christian Boom
in response to reader comment: not all prophets are jews

Submitted by Servant of Christ (United States), Aug 3, 2009 at 00:10

Thank you for your response, Abdirahman samatar.

Well i ask, was abraham a jew?

One who had escaped came and reported this to Abram the Hebrew. Now Abram was living near the great trees of Mamre the Amorite, a brother of Eshcol and Aner, all of whom were allied with Abram. (Genesis 14:3) NIV emphasis added

absolutely not. was isack and ishmeal jew?

I do not believe Isaac ever made any prophesies. Ishmael cannot be summoned as an example because that his legitimacy as a prophet is in question.

absolutly not. was jacob (israel) a jew? absalutly not. matter of fact all the 12 tribes but one was jew. The descendant of juda h were the jews

Since Abraham is widely known as the Father of the Jews, it would be reasonable to deem his descendant Isaac and Isaac's descendants to be Jews.

The original use of Jew was for Judah's descendants but that word has now encompassed more than one tribe.

Moreover, the word "Hebrew" is used to refer to Abram through Joseph, which circumvents your objection.

God Bless,

Steve
