Jesus was More than a Messenger

Reader comment on item: A Christian Boom
in response to reader comment: Jesus is God's Messenger

34Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are gods'? 35If he called them 'gods,' to whom the word of God came—and the Scripture cannot be broken— (John 10: 30-34)

The verse in which Jesus was referring to was this one:

6 "I said, 'You are "gods";
you are all sons of the Most High.' (Psalm 82:6)

Keep reading:

"I said, 'You are "gods";
you are all sons of the Most High.'

7 But you will die like mere men;
you will fall like every other ruler."

No, Jesus was not saying that they were gods. Psalms uses the word "gods" in a mocking tone.

This verse refers to Judges who teach God divine law as gods. This title is given to those who teach God's divine law and not because he is God himself. In Exodus 7:1 Moses is called a god because he was God's spokesperson to Pharaoh and not God himself.

Then the LORD said to Moses, "See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet. (Exodus 7:1)

The word used is 'like'. God did not say "Moses, you are God."

So Jesus (pbuh) was a messenger of God.

Yet he claimed to be the Son of God and told people to trust in him for their salvation. If this isn't true, then Jesus was worse than the worst liars. Yet, how can person with the greatest lie have the greatest moral character?

Wrong again The Gospel of John is written in flawless Greek whiles the Book of Revelations contains grammatical errors. Another thing about the Gospel of John is that the author of it never identifies himself directly.

Since we do not have the very first copy of Revelation, I think it is safe to assume that on of the manuscripts had grammatical mistakes (or the other books of John have a better translator). The Book of Revelation has a mission completely different from the Gospel. John is here warning others about the end.

May God Bless You All
