Humorous side bar

Reader comment on item: A Christian Boom

Submitted by Al Masetti (United States), Nov 28, 2002 at 19:52

My reading of the comments on this article (which by the way I have forwarded to a number of people) reminds me of a remark by a working associate. His grandmother had come to the United States from Russia as an atheist Communist. My associate was also a professed atheist. He said (in the context of a "water cooler" political discussion) that he was opposed to prayer in the schools "because you never know what might happen". In the interests of office peace I declined to escalate the discussion. It was funny on so many levels. He. of course, had no objection to sticking his thumb up my nose, and it was I, the Christian, who turned the other cheek. ..
