Reader comment on item: A Christian Boom
in response to reader comment: Creation date as calulated by the chronology of events in Bible.

Dear Christofer,

Pls refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ussher_chronology

for finding out that creation came on 4004 BC. You should not argue that we should not take the things literally then you have to negate the whole thing.

Once again, this is ONE interpretation of the dating system. The question on dates hinges on the interpretation of the first seven 'days'.

Otherwise take the spiritual and moral part which is available in other religions also and keep quiet.

I will take all parts literally unless the Bible indicates so -- ie. figurative speech, hyperboles, etc.

Creation, Adam, Eve out of Ribs of Adam, Serpent, First Sin, all are sinners, Jesus died for the Sins of whole humankind, Judgement day, hell Heaven all are bla bla and stop converting the innocent lives of the third world.

They are not 'bla bla' (...).

Scriptures, Chapters, Verses make sense only to Theologians and for Common Mass is like " The Boy who shouted that the King is Nude." Other people could not question the King because it was the public belief that King's nudeness will be visible only to the Wicked. If you are a good soul you can see the King as well dressed. Majority of the followers of all religions are like our king's people. They know the fact, but they cannot talk since the others will outcast him.

I am certainly no theologian, but understanding what a figure of speech is does not require divine guidance. Your arguments thus far have been taking everything out of figurative context.

Regards,

Shri Devi.

God Bless
