An enormous rift is not inevitable between North and South

Reader comment on item: A Christian Boom

...because the North doesn't care about the South's lack of intellectual integrity and the South views the North as a bunch of godless heathens. That said, if the North wants to maintain its liberal Christian views, including its acceptance of form criticism (e.g. acknowledging the existence of the 'Q' gospel, and the tripartite authorship of the Pentateuch), then they can, but the South will simply ignore them and move on until they reach a point where they too articulate the problems scripture presents, and the parsimonious solutions that form criticism offers, then the South will divide among themselves just like the Christians and Jews in north America are divided over these issues.
