Jesus is God's Messenger

in response to reader comment: Messengers of God Do Not Say that They Are God

Submitted by Sohail (United Kingdom), Dec 5, 2006 at 07:07

Do you really think the Messenger of God would call himself God? Would the Messenger of God ask the Jews to put faith in him for their salvation? Would the Messenger of God lie like this? Jesus called himself God, he is either a liar, a madman, or the actual Son of God.

A messenger of God would not lie about something so extraordinary...

Why Jesus is not God:

30I and the Father are one."

31Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, 32but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?"

33"We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."

34Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are gods'? 35If he called them 'gods,' to whom the word of God came—and the Scripture cannot be broken— (John 10: 30-34)

The verse in which Jesus was referring to was this one:

6 "I said, 'You are "gods";
you are all sons of the Most High.' (Psalm 82:6)

This verse refers to Judges who teach God divine law as gods. This title is given to those who teach God's divine law and not because he is God himself. In Exodus 7:1 Moses is called a god because he was God's spokesperson to Pharaoh and not God himself.

Then the LORD said to Moses, "See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet. (Exodus 7:1)

So Jesus (pbuh) was a messenger of God.

It is believed? That is a conservative secular speculation. The writing styles of John's books are very similar.

Wrong again The Gospel of John is written in flawless Greek whiles the Book of Revelations contains grammatical errors. Another thing about the Gospel of John is that the author of it never identifies himself directly.
