Since when does the Quran teach tolerance

Reader comment on item: A Christian Boom
in response to reader comment: All the world religions can co-exist as long as there is tolerance.

It might be difficult for Islam considering this.

Qur’an 5:51: “O you who believe! Do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other…”

Qur’an 9:5: “So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush.”

Qur’an 48:29: “Muhammad is God’s apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another.”

Qur’an 4:34: “Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other….Good women are obedient. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.”
