Conversion rate for Islam is neutral

Reader comment on item: A Christian Boom
in response to reader comment: Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world because of CONVERSION

Submitted by Meh (United States), Oct 3, 2013 at 16:15

According to the Pew Scholarly report, the conversion rate to Islam is effectively 0%- the amount of converts away from Islam and the amount of converts to Islam is roughly equal. Since 75% of new converts to Islam in the West leave the religion within five years, this is actually a net loss for Islam.

This trend is particularly prevelant in non-Arabic Africa and Russia, where Muslims leave their faith in large numbers.
