Christianity will rise as it has for 2,000 years

Reader comment on item: A Christian Boom

Submitted by Ray (United States), Nov 27, 2002 at 14:11

I'm one of the "southern" Christians who now live in the United States. It's true that the fastest growing churches in my former country tend to be in line with the American evangelical version. Despite suppression and persecution, Orthodox or Evangelical Catholicism and evangelical Protestantism (including Pentecostals) will form the majority of southern Christianity. Also, the traditionally liberal mainstream Protestant denominations in the West will not recognize their fellow church members in the "southern" countries as they too are more evangelical. For example, the Anglicans in the south will find that they have more in common with American Southern Baptists or Pentecostals than they would with their fellow Anglicans (Episcopalians) in North America.
All said and done, I'm very optimistic of the future of Christianity. I've always known that the Church will triumph in the face of pernicious evil and violent enemies that we face in the "south" all these years which the West have finally came into contact with esp. on 9-11...
