Sara,

Abu-Bakr the father of Aisha was alive and he consented the marriage.

Prphet Mohammad was not thinking of Aisha, it was his maid (He considered like his mother) she suggested to him Aisha, this was after two year from the death of Khadijah, He asked her to ask check if they agree, When Mohammad Married Aisha, none of the Qurayshi people objected or commented, his adversaries would have mocked him or objected to the marriage, even his maid would not have suggested to him Aisha.

This shows that those days it was normal to marry young girls of that age.

Now let us see what was the legal age in USA- until today the legal age in newhampshire is 13 year

in the 1930s 12 states of the united states had the legal age 12 years for the girl to be married

In roman times the ceasar set the aged to 10 years, because the father used to make their daughters marry younger that that age

The women in the hot climates grow and become mature quicker and in earlier age than the women in colder climates

I hope by now you can grasp what I wrote to you and you see that there is no problem in marriying small children

Which is better getting married a lawful married that is acceptred by society or make incest and pedophile to young children.
