Luke 3 starts from Nathan (the son of David). Its about the genealogy of Mary . It doenst say that Heli begat Joseph.

Mathew 1 starts from Solomon( The son of David) . Its the genealogy of Joseph. Because of the evil deeds of Jeconiah , the throne of David was taken from Solomon' s sons, but it continued in Nathan's sons.
