Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam [in Regensburg]
in response to reader comment: Aziz, nice scholarly approach

Submitted by Aziz (United States), Oct 9, 2006 at 17:19

Dear Maggie,

Thank you very much for your appreciation. My intention was not to develop the history of the spread of Islam but only to show the political paradigms the Prophet Mohammad followed in his applications of the principle of "no compulsion in religion," which His Holiness the Pope mentioned in his deeply theological and philosophical lecture. However, history is there to inspire us in achieving peace and mutual understanding; anger (even the most justified one) can NOT solve any matter; dia-logue [in the original meaning of the word as dia-logos (twofold logos)] will do better. I highly appreciate His Holiness's call to an open heart and mind dialogue.

Warm regards, Aziz
