Communism was an economic system whose result was an inevitable totalitarian political structure. Islam is a religion which has been practised with considerable diversity and, until the advent of Wahhab and Saud, considerable tolerance. It will not be easy for moderates to defeat terror when it lives in the next room: we ourselves find it hard to even recognize it and for us it is only an occasional alien visitor.
