The pope quoting a Byzantine emperor.

Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam [in Regensburg]

Submitted by Victoria H. Conroy (United States), Sep 20, 2006 at 23:00

The pope would have been better off to be quoting from the Bible, which is Inspired by God and not by man. He would have found many helpful quotes to bring the message home to those who strive to commit violence. The pope's first duty as a christian is to bring to " light ", the " KINGDOM OF GOD " and " His Rightousness ". Peace is brought by the Love of God's Word and His Son Crucified. That is the mandate of all Christians who love God and their neighbor.

We all have known for a long, long, time that all men are hateful towards God and his neighbor. That is not new. What is good news is, Jesus Christ was Crucified for all of our sins. This is the good news for all those who believe in HIM Crucified. This is what God the Father came to tell us through His Son Jesus Christ. This message is what the pope should have quoted was a Christian.
