Congratulations Naimat!... but here are the sad facts.

Naimat, congratulations!

You found an article by an Israeli author which indeed is expected to sound great to Muslim ears. Unfortunately however, it doesn't pass the test of a closer scrutiny. Even though it has some valid points, it misses the gist of the issue. Mr. Avneri, the author of this article is a well known radical leftist. In his article he is focusing on periods of the history in which Islam was really at its apogee while the Christian world was in its darkest state of backwardness. At the same time, he is carefully and conveniently "forgetting" that those times are long past, and "a few things" changed since then.

While the Western Christian world with time made huge progress through a cultural renaissance, and subsequent political, scientific, and technological revolutions, the Islam sunk from a pragmatic, vibrant, and competitive culture into a stagnant and frozen dogmatic cult. And to make things even worse, in our times this relatively dormant religion was literally hijacked by a murderous, militant, terrorist ideology.

These are the sad facts with which we are living today and which have been somehow "overlooked", and not mentioned in Avneri's article.
