You're right. The surprise is that so few events such as Abu Graib happen. Same thing with My Lai. Big media stink but who noticed that Calley was stopped in the act and then tried and convicted? And Baruch Goldberg will die in jail (as he should) while Jew-killers are lauded from lamppost to lamppost (as they shouldn't). The one thing Mao got right was that law comes from the barrel of a gun and wherever an army goes, there is law. Sometimes young people get a surge of power. But I think the US forces are pretty disciplined and way to Boy-Soutish for my liking. Candies with daisy-cutters? Man, that was surreal!

As for Iran, right again. But it has always been my conviction that Iraq is a holding pattern and the Iran phase is well under way. Afghanistan's airfields to the east, Iraq's to the west, ACs in the Gulf. What's left? Oh, right. Syria.
