Islam - a brittle religion

Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam [in Regensburg]

Submitted by Vijay (United Kingdom), Sep 20, 2006 at 18:32

Muslims feel insecure and feel constantly threatened even by cartoonists because Islam is a brittle religion. Islam cannot exist without clamping down violently on any perceived criticism of Islam or prophet Mohammed. Any criticism, either scholorly or in layman's language, or any jokes about prophet Mohammed directly threatn Islamic identity because it is so easy to see the utter criminality of prophet Mohammed's actions, kind of actiojn which won't be tolerated even in Muslim countries.

It is not the responsibility of the world to make sure Islamic precepts are accepted since that would put the world back by a thousand years ethically, morally, spiritually, economically. As things stand, Islam can only exist only as a parasite on the modern world, even as it hates modern world.
