For 'Ali and violence in the Qur'an and ayat al-saif

Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam [in Regensburg]
in response to reader comment: Dhimmi and Quran

My dear Ali it says in Q 9:5: Iqtoloo al-mushrikeen! That is what it says.

Your allah is asking you to kill polytheists! Your God is asking you to commit a crime! I know that you sound like a decent man and you would not do such a thing but this is what your Allah is saying in ayat al-saif or the sword verse!

And who says that islam was not spread by violence.

What is more absud here is that your Allah is supposed to be omnipotent and he can convert anyone to Islam if he wishes but in this case your Allah is not omnipotent and is asking for help from a human being, unless your Allah is not really omnipotent, but in this case he would be no God.

Care to comment my dear Ali?
