Bravo Dr.Pipes for pointing out that the Pope stopped short of an apologyReader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam Submitted by Ben van de Polder (United States), Sep 19, 2006 at 15:33 As usual Dr.Pipes has managed to summarise the situation in an inimitable 'one stop' for all your informational needs piece. Dr.Pipes explained that the Pope did not apologise, nor did he retract his statement which was in fact a quote. and had said he was 'dissapointed' and 'regretted' that Muslims got upset by the observation made by a long dead emperor. Muslims, for their part, attempted to show the world that Islam is a religion of peace, by issuing death threats against him and all Christians ,and shooting a 65 year old nun who worked in a children's hospital in Somalia. The Pope cannot apologise for words which weren't his and claims which are being proven on a daily basis for all to see.
