Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam [in Regensburg]

Submitted by Bryan Jackson (Canada), Oct 19, 2006 at 00:11

Every time we get a person making a comment towards Islam or even drawing a cartoon about it we get these idiots out here thinking the best way to respond is to blow stuff up, start fires and kill people.

Seriously, if the Islamic World doesn't want to be perceived as terrorist maniacs they have to stop this. Surely moderate Muslims outnumber the morons, so protests in places like Saudi and Egypt should get stopped dead, and anybody in the West dumb enough to riot and cause chaos over mere comments towards Islam should get deported. No more of this.

As far as the apologists for this sort of behaviour go, that's not any smarter. I point out Canada's leader of the federal NDP, Jack Layton, who really needs a reality check. Why do people support terrorists? Freedom fighting is another thing entirely, but this isn't freedom fighting. The people in the African embassies. The people in the Twin Towers. The passengers of Pan Am 103. The Aussie tourists blown up in Bali. The dead in Madrid and London. Did these people attack Muslims? In all likelyhood no.

Muslims have every right to be part of the world we all live in. Islamists don't. The apologists need to remember that you might be the next one they kill.
