Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam [in Regensburg]

Submitted by Canadian Infidel (Canada), Sep 23, 2006 at 15:46

Are we really prepared to give up our freedom of speech for fear of radical Muslims? Ramifications? Let's fast-forward 100 years. It's the year 2106. The pope of the day or a prominent evangelist states: "Osama bin Laden was a terrorist and spread his religion by the sword." Overnight, there are riots around the world, people are being killed, and churches fire-bombed. The "crusader" who made the statement is forced to apologize, saying he never meant to insult this "religion of peace." The insanity of political correctness.
