fundamentalist Christians were persecuted during the dark ages

Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam
in response to reader comment: the pope and the christian should study dark ages

Jesus and his apostles did not cause the dark ages, they didn't live in that time, they didn't endorse it, they didn't promote in the bible. millions of Christians who today you would call evangelicals were martyred during the dark ages. the real reason for all the chaos at that time were barbaris radical muslims. the difference between them and the crusaders is that the muslims were fundamentalists doing what the koran says and living the way their highest prophet did. the Crusaders who caused most of the trouble were not living according to the bible and did not resemble Jesus or his disciples all of whom were persecuted their whole life held in prisons not being found guilty of anything. if it wasn't for the crusaders europe would have resembled iran and the arab countries today, lots of oppression, violence, no freedom of speach. instead the liberation of europe from the muslims allowed for great development. 80 % of the 100 most influencial people in history are Christian and came out of those places.
