the pope didnt apologize

Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam [in Regensburg]

Submitted by gary (United States), Sep 20, 2006 at 00:36

dear friends,

the pope apologized to no one and an apology was not necessary. what the pope said, not withstanding the usual misinformation fed to you by our islamic like press, the pope gave a backhanded almost comical statement saying he is "disappointed" by the reaction of the islamic community. this is not an apology in any way, shape or form. it was more of an observation of a "case in point".

what really puzzles me is the reaction of the rest of the christian religious sects. judaism has different sects as well, orthodox, conservative and reform. but if this had happened to a jew, the entire jewish community regardless of sect would have come to their defense. i see different christian sects distancing themselves from the pope or simply saying i'm not catholic. dont these people understand that the attempt here by the moslems is an attempt to bully christians as a whole to give up their right of freedom of speech? cant they see that this has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with mob intimidation? my god, im a jew and i stand in lock step with the pope. he was right in what he said, although he was only quoting from a book, and right not to apologize for it.

to my jewish friends, it is time to support the pope and catholicism in general. my best friend is catholic and i love him dearly, (plutonicly of course). i will help to defend him and his family at any cost. to the non catholic christians who stood with the pope, god bless you. to all those who did not, shame on you.

thank you.
