Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam [in Regensburg]
in response to reader comment: Biblical Illiteracy is fatal

Submitted by Sohail (United Kingdom), Sep 26, 2006 at 08:46

Abijah you said the following:

Sohail, the Bible has a record of the perfect fulfillment of hundreds of prophesies over centuries and millinnia

False prophecies in the Bible:

I tell you the truth; all this will come upon this generation. Matthew 23:36

Jesus in the above verse says that the end of the world shall happen in the disciple's lifetime but it didn't.

28I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." Matthew 16:28

Jesus tell his followers that he will return and establish the kingdom of God within they lifetime, but he didn't.

63But Jesus remained silent.
The high priest said to him, "I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ,[a] the Son of God."

64"Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied. "But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven." Matthew 26: 63-64

Jesus falsely prophecies that the high priest would see is second coming but the second coming of Jesus has not happened yet.

23When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes. Matthew 10:23

Well, his disciples went over the cities of Israel and then died waiting for the "return of the Lord." Now, nearly 2000 years later, and long after the gospel had been preached throughout the world, his followers still wait.

Abijah I have only use the Gospel of Matthew to prove that there are false prophecies in the Bible. Do you want me to use the rest of the Bible?

Sohail
