The Pope should have stood firm

Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam [in Regensburg]

Submitted by Gloria Stewart (United States), Sep 19, 2006 at 18:29

The Pope was correct in his statements regarding Islam. He erred seriously in giving any form of apology in response to Muslim protests. The mainstream media have treated the death of a Catholic nun in Somalia as due to the Pope's remarks. On the contrary, the guilty person is the person who pulled the trigger. The Pope said what he did and the murderer chose to respond by killing a nun.

Islam has a supremacist aspect that gives no quarter to any criticism. Not only must the offender apologize, he must be humiliated. A popular way for Muslims to collect the jizya (tribute) from dhimmis in Muslim countries was for the collector to pour dirt on the head of the person offering the tribute. At every point in the life of a non-Muslim, he must be reminded that Islam and Muslims are superior.

I fear that even the Pope cannot or will not stand up the the Muslim juggernaut.
