Muslim riots. Spontaneous or organised?

Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam [in Regensburg]
in response to reader comment: I believe the sentence which Muslims found so offensive...

We have all seen pictures of Muslims shouting and waving their arms because of a cartoon in a Danish newspaper or because of some remarks by the Pope. Yet on sites such as these, far worse things are written, the result , absolutely nothing. It is inconceivable that not one Muslim has failed to read them and spread the word to his brothers. So why the total lack of reaction?

It suggests to me that unless the Muslim organisers think any perceived insult is a generator of publicity, they ignore it. Other wise how do these mobs appear simultaneously on the streets, with similar placards, screeching that Islam has been insulted, unless they are ordered to demonstrate by the local Imams.

I have seen similar demonstrations in Africa where mobs appeared, waved their arms and shouted against some perceived enemy and then after listening to a speech or two, the crowd would disperse. But they were not angry or upset, in fact most of them were grinning from ear to ear. When I spoke to some of them afterwards about the demonstration, it transpired that they were ordered to attend by the local politicians.

In the case of the Muslims I am convinced that it is the local holy men that order them onto the streets.

This makes their alleged rage ridiculous.
