Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam [in Regensburg]
in response to reader comment: The amazing Nihad Awad of CAIR and the Pope

Not only that, but the quran and hadiths mention spreading islam by whatever means, using violence where ever people aren't convinced by reason. But often the reason used is the threat of violence, and an impossibly hard lifestyle forced on all that are too intelligent and good-hearted to islamicize. That is coerxion.

As for the saying that there is no compulsion in religion, it never meant that no pressure was to be used - it was merely part of his complaint that even many outward muslims inwardly couldn't be convinced, which is why the verse is supplemented with endless rhetoric of death and doom falling on all not wholly sold out to his demands in their innermost mind and heart.

His point never was that he daren't try to force "religion" - it was merely an admittance of the infuriating fact that insofar as one is merely forced (as he in deed does say must be done to all) to say t heu are muslims, then they still aren't pleasing to `allah, who wants them to truly die to all the TRUE GOD made them to be.
